WHAT IS PLANCHEYENNE?

PlanCheyenne an integrated community master plan that defines the Cheyenne area’s future.  Adopted in 2006, the award-winning plan follows a 4-step building block approach – Snapshot, Structure, Shape, and Build to guide future decisions and enhance the community.  The plan components add organization and cohesion to the numerous plans and policies from various area organizations and make the information more accessible and relevant to the Cheyenne community.

WHY IS IT BEING UPDATED?

The PlanCheyenne: Reflections and Progress effort is the first major update to PlanCheyenne.  As set forth in the original document, major updates to PlanCheyenne are intended to occur every five years.  The purpose of this major update is to reflect upon what has been accomplished and to re-examine the plan’s directions to ensure that it aligns with current trends and our community’s vision for the future.  While many aspects of the plan will likely remain the same, some adjustments will be necessary to make sure that it continues to be effective.

THE PLANNING PROCESS

The Planning Team began organizing the effort in late 2011.  Public participation activities will begin in early 2012.  The entire planning process will last approximately one year, with adoption of the plan anticipated to occur in late 2012.
